Grünstoff: Plastics Recycler with Strategic Realignment

Grünstoff Kunststoff-Recycling GmbH is becoming Grünstoff Polymer Recycling GmbH i.G. With the change of name and strategic realignment, the company at its Elsenfeld site is repositioning itself both organizationally and professionally. On February 4, 2026, the Frankfurt am Main Local Court ordered the provisional administration of the assets of Grünstoff Kunststoff-Recycling GmbH, Frankfurt am Main, in insolvency proceedings over the company’s assets. The new company is now building on existing technical structures, many years of experience in plastics recycling, and established operational expertise.

Management will be assumed by Prof. Dr. Gesa Beck. She is Professor of Environmental Process Engineering and also Managing Director of Berlin-based ABCircular GmbH. In this role, she contributes scientific expertise in plastics technology, recycling processes, and industrial process workflows. She is supported by new shareholders as well as an experienced operational team.

Grünstoff Polymer Recycling processes engineering plastics using specialized methods to produce recyclates for industrial applications. A key focus is the recycling of polycarbonate. In this area, the existing market position is to be further developed.

As part of the strategic realignment, existing processes are to be systematically optimized and implemented more efficiently. This is based on modern plant technology, a well-established team, and already developed pre-treatment steps. In future, these are to be more closely integrated into ongoing processes in order to process production waste that has previously been prepared manually more efficiently.

The objective is to prepare production waste increasingly through automated processes, convert it into quality-assured recyclates, and return it to industrial material cycles. This is intended to support consistently high material quality.

The material portfolio includes, among others, polycarbonate (PC), PET-A, PET-G, PC/ABS compounds, and other thermoplastics. Grünstoff Polymer Recycling is being supported and advised by ABCircular GmbH as part of the realignment.
