NexPoint Materials has commenced operations as an independent engineering thermoplastics company. The launch follows the completion of Mutares SE & Co. KGaA’s acquisition of Sabic’s former Engineering Thermoplastics business (see also plasticker-news dated January 9, 2026). Operating under the NexPoint name, the company employs approximately 2,800 people and has an integrated production, engineering and sales network across Europe and the Americas. Business operations, product deliveries and technical customer support are expected to continue without interruption during the transition. The move to an independent structure is intended to shorten decision-making processes and strengthen cooperation with customers, suppliers and other business partners. In particular, NexPoint aims to respond more quickly to application-specific technical requirements and support the development of customized material solutions. The company’s portfolio includes engineering thermoplastics and polymer blends for demanding applications. These include polycarbonate under the “Lexan” brand, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene under the “Cycolac” brand and polybutylene terephthalate under the “Valox” brand. The portfolio is complemented by materials marketed under the “Xenoy” and “Cycoloy” brands. The materials are used across a range of industries, including automotive, electrical and electronics, medical technology and healthcare, construction, consumer goods and industrial applications. According to the company, the NexPoint name reflects its ambition to support customers at critical stages of material and application development through technical expertise and practical solutions. As an independent company, NexPoint is expected to gain greater operational flexibility and make decisions closer to its respective markets and customers. NexPoint Materials LLC is part of Mutares’ Chemicals & Materials segment. The company is continuing the long-standing materials development, manufacturing expertise and application know-how of Sabic’s former Engineering Thermoplastics business.
