STC Extrusion: Starlinger Establishes Specialized Company for Artificial Turf and Monofilament Technology

The Starlinger Group has established STC Extrusion GmbH in Chemnitz, Germany. The independent mechanical engineering company is acquiring selected assets of the insolvent STC Spinnzwirn GmbH and will focus on machinery and processes for the production of artificial turf yarns and technical monofilaments made from various polymers. The new company is not the legal successor to STC Spinnzwirn GmbH. Its shares are held by Vienna-based Starlinger & Co Gesellschaft m.b.H. According to the company, STC Extrusion GmbH has already commenced operations.

Technology Development and Service
The company's portfolio includes production technology for artificial turf and technical monofilaments. A "Customer Experience Center" is available for customer trials, raw material evaluation, and research, product and technology development projects. In addition, STC Extrusion GmbH will provide service and spare parts support for existing extrusion lines supplied by STC Spinnzwirn GmbH.

Cooperation in Winding Technology and Recycling
Cooperation with Georg Sahm GmbH & Co. KG, based in Eschwege, Germany, which is also part of the Starlinger Group, is set to be intensified, particularly in the field of winding technology. This includes automation solutions and handling systems for bobbins. Furthermore, the expertise of Starlinger's recycling division will be incorporated into the development of processes that enable higher proportions of recycled material to be used.

The Starlinger Group aims to position the newly established company as a competence center for artificial turf and monofilament technology within its mechanical engineering network. The roots of textile machinery manufacturing in Chemnitz date back to 1866. STC Spinnzwirn GmbH had been part of the Starlinger Group since 2018.
