Technologies and Quality Assurance The CAP covers the entire process chain, from feasibility assessments to component testing. Its services include the digitization of existing components using 3D scanning, design optimization for additive manufacturing processes, as well as production and quality assurance. Technologies used include Fused Layer Modeling (FLM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), and Digital Light Processing (DLP). The mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties of manufactured components can be analyzed and documented. Technical and Economic Assessment As part of its application consulting services, the institute evaluates which components and materials are suitable for additive manufacturing and under what conditions their use is economically viable. Depending on the application, lower tooling costs, shorter lead times, and greater design flexibility may be relevant advantages. Suitability is assessed individually for each component, with series production being one of several potential applications. Fetter has experience in industrial plastics processing. According to Adrian Beetz, Group Leader of Additive Manufacturing Research, the new position is intended to strengthen the alignment between the CAP's technical expertise and the requirements of industry.
