Hexpol: Swedish Plastics Group Strengthens Its Presence in Turkey

Swedish plastics group Hexpol is acquiring Turkish compounding company Symplast.

According to a press release, Hexpol recently agreed to acquire an 80% stake in Symplast. The shares are being sold by the company's founders, Selahattin Dülger, Ali Rıza Kır, Yaşar Kurtuluş and Fahri Tolga Sarıkahya. The total transaction value is stated at EUR 54 million. Hexpol has also secured an option to acquire the remaining shares in Symplast. Subject to approval by the relevant regulatory authorities, the transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year.

Founded in 2013, Symplast develops and manufactures thermoplastic compounds for applications in the automotive, construction, consumer goods and electronics industries. Its product portfolio primarily includes SEBS/SBS-based TPE compounds, EPDM/PP-based TPV compounds and EPR/PP-based TPO compounds. The company is headquartered in Izmir, Turkey, and also operates a production facility for semi-finished products in the Georgian port city of Poti, as well as a sales office in Essen, Germany. Symplast employs approximately 135 people and generates annual revenues of around EUR 34 million.

Symplast gives Hexpol a strong position in Turkey, an attractive and strategically located manufacturing market with well-developed automotive and construction industries."

The newly established Thermoplastic Compounding business area of Hexpol currently comprises its existing Turkish subsidiary Hexpol Izmir, Hexpol Vilafranca in Spain and the Italian Vipa Group. The acquisition of Vipa Group, agreed in July, was completed in early October (see also plasticker-news dated August 6, 2026).

According to its own information, the publicly listed Hexpol Group is one of the leading companies in the development and manufacture of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and complementary compounds. In addition, Hexpol produces plastic profiles, seals for heat exchangers and plastic wheels, among other products. Headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, the group employs approximately 5,000 people in 13 countries. In the first half of the 2026 financial year, Hexpol generated revenues of SEK 10.048 billion (EUR 904 million), operating profit of SEK 1.384 billion (EUR 124 million) and net profit of SEK 1.059 billion (EUR 95 million).
