The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has appointed Max Craipeau of Greencore Resources Limited as the new President of its Plastics Division. He succeeds Henk Alssema of Dutch recycling company Inviplast. The decision was made by the division’s board on the recommendation of the Nominations Committee. With his appointment, Craipeau also joins the BIR Executive Committee and becomes a Vice-President of the association. Craipeau has been a member of BIR since 2011. For the past eight years, he has chaired its Tyres and Rubber Committee and also serves on the board of the Plastics Division. In this role, he prepares quarterly market reports covering Asia and Eastern Europe. Craipeau has been active in Asia’s recycling industry for around 20 years. After starting his career in the non-ferrous metals sector, he expanded his activities into the recycling of tyres, rubber and plastics. In 2018, he established Greencore’s first plastics recycling facility in Indonesia. According to BIR, the site now employs more than 300 people. His stated priorities as President include improving competitive conditions for recycling companies and strengthening cooperation between the different recycling sectors. Craipeau sees particular opportunities for collaboration in the recycling of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). He also intends to continue the work of his predecessor. More information: www.bir.org |
