Husky: Capacity Expansion in Shanghai – New Injection Molding System for High-Volume Production of Beverage Closures

Canadian injection molding technology manufacturer Husky Technologies announced plans to expand its production capacity in China during its "Husky Connect Shanghai Open House", held from October 13 to 16, 2026. At the same time, the company unveiled its new "Hycap Pro" injection molding system for the high-volume production of beverage closures worldwide. Customers and partners from China and the Asia-Pacific region attended the four-day event.

Shanghai Manufacturing Facility to Be Expanded
Husky has operated a manufacturing and technology center in Shanghai since 2004, which also serves as its regional headquarters for the Asia-Pacific market. The facility produces injection molding machines and molds for customers both within and outside the region. Through further investments in manufacturing, engineering, service and technical expertise, the company aims to increase local capacity and reduce response times in customer support.

According to the manufacturer, the equipment is designed in Canada and produced using internationally sourced components. Standardized manufacturing processes and quality standards are intended to apply regardless of the assembly location. Husky has not disclosed details regarding the scale of the expansion, investment amounts or the expected completion date.

New Technology to Reduce Cycle Times
Building on the existing "Hycap" platform, the new "Hycap Pro" system is designed for high-output beverage closure production. It integrates injection molding, mold and system technologies. According to the manufacturer, productivity is up to 45 percent higher than that of the previous "Hycap" system in comparable applications.

A key technical feature is the free-fall removal of finished closures, which operates independently of the mold opening and closing movements. This is intended to reduce non-productive time and enable shorter production cycles with higher output. The system was demonstrated in operation during the event in Shanghai.
