Self-lubricating plastic material - lubrication on demand
|
A German institute from Bavaria developed a self-lubricating plastic material. The plastic material lubricates itself by microcapsules which contain a lubrication fluid. The microcapsules incorporated into the plastic will be destroyed as a result of friction which results in the release of lubricating fluid. This consequently leads to a reduction of friction. A European and an US patent are granted. The research institute is looking for licensees. If desired it can also be used for R&D project.
