BASF: Price Increase for Neopentyl Glycol and 1,6-Hexanediol in Europe
|
BASF is increasing the selling prices for neopentyl glycol (NPG) and 1,6-hexanediol (HDO) in Europe with immediate effect or as existing contractual agreements allow. The price of neopentyl glycol will increase by EUR 250 per metric ton, while the price of 1,6-hexanediol will rise by EUR 300 per metric ton. The chemical company cites the global supply and demand situation as well as higher raw material costs as reasons for the adjustments. Advert Neopentyl glycol is used as a chemical intermediate, among other applications, in the production of polyester resins for coatings, unsaturated polyester resins, lubricants and plasticizers.
1,6-Hexanediol is used, among other applications, in the production of industrial coatings, including formulations with reduced volatile organic compound (VOC) content, as well as polyurethanes, adhesives and cosmetics. In addition, the substance is used as a reactive diluent in epoxy systems. Such systems are used, for example, in components for lightweight applications in the automotive industry.
