Plasmatreat: Plasma Surface Treatment for Plastics Processing

Plasmatreat GmbH will present solutions for the plasma surface treatment of plastics at Fakuma 2026. The focus will be on processes for surface activation, cleaning and coating, as well as on process monitoring.

Among the technologies on display will be the Openair-Plasma technology for automated inline processes and the new RD1004C rotary nozzle. It is designed for wide-area coating of plastic surfaces and profiles and is intended to improve adhesion in subsequent bonding processes.

For the first time at Fakuma, Plasmatreat will also present a system from its Aurora-Plasma portfolio. The low-pressure system uses 2.45 GHz microwave excitation under vacuum and is also suitable for complex 3D components. According to the company, applications include medical technology, lightweight construction and electronics, as well as the treatment of high-performance polymers such as PEEK, PTFE, FEP and PEBA.

Process control is provided by the Plasma Control Unit, which monitors key parameters and is designed to detect deviations at an early stage. Another focus is on recycled plastics, whose varying surface properties can be modified by plasma treatment to prepare them for subsequent printing, bonding or coating processes.
