Great Lakes increases prices of all bromine-based flame retardants

Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (www.greatlakes.com) announced it will increase prices worldwide on Firemaster® 550/552 flame retardants, Tetrabromophthalic anhydride and Tetrabromophthalic anhydride (PHT-4™) derivatives by $0.10/lb. Additionally, the company will increase prices on all other brominated flame retardants worldwide by up to 15%. These price increases are in addition to all other increases previously announced and will be effective for shipments beginning April 1, 2005, or as contracts allow.

The company stated that the new pricing is necessary due to the unprecedented and rapidly increasing costs of key raw materials, energy products and logistics, coupled with the need to improve profitability levels to a point where reinvestment is viable to meet rapidly expanding end use demand.
