A Slovenian research institute and a university have liquefied wood using different glycols and acid catalyst. Liquefied wood was then used as one of the components in polyester synthesis. In such a way polyurethane foams with different properties were made. Advantages over conventional polymer synthesis are in using renewable resources and in better biodegradability of such materials. They are looking for partners interested in further development and testing of new applications.
