The US speciality chemicals company Solenis is expanding its production site in Suffolk in the US state of Virginia. In a press release, the company recently announced an investment totalling USD 193 million. The plans include the construction of a 7,400 square metre production hall and a new packaging facility, as well as a new rail link to the site. The expansion will primarily be used to expand the production of speciality products based on polyvinylamine (PVAm), which are primarily used as stabilisers in the paper industry. The project is expected to create 34 new jobs. Solenis CEO John Panichella explained in the press release: "This investment is part of our ongoing commitment to deliver value to our customers while supporting them in realising their sustainability initiatives. As the demand for sustainable production processes increases, this new facility not only ensures that we have the capacity to supply the paper packaging market, but also helps us diversify into other applications that can bring additional growth." According to Solenis, it is a leading international manufacturer of speciality chemicals for water-intensive industries. The product portfolio includes a wide range of water treatment chemicals, process auxiliaries, functional additives, cleaning agents and disinfectants. The company is headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, and has 71 production facilities and 15 research and development sites worldwide with a total of around 15,400 employees. Solenis is controlled by the Platinum Equity investment group. The German chemicals group BASF also held a stake in Solenis until the end of 2021. More information: www.solenis.com |
