DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers adjusts ECP and PVA/PVOH prices

DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers (P&IP, www.dupont.com) is increasing its prices for both its ethylene copolymer (ECP) product line and all grades of DuPont™ Elvanol® polyvinyl alcohol (PVA/PVOH). The increases for its ECP product line will range from 0.13 €/kg - 0.22 €/kg, effective between 15th September and 1st October 2005. A price increase of 0.14€/kg for all grades of DuPont™ Elvanol® PVA/PVOH, as from 15th September 2005, has also been announced. Specific increases will be communicated to customers by DuPont P&IP’s regional sales and marketing organizations.

“We are doing all we can to hold costs in line and acknowledge that price increases are difficult for our customers. However, we cannot totally absorb the recent increases in raw materials and transportation costs. At the same time, we will continue to invest in our production capability, innovation and new product development so we can continue to bring customers sciencebased products and offerings that add value to their business,” said Craig F. Binetti, President, DuPont P&IP. “Price adjustments are made necessary by sustained, record-high raw material and transportation costs, which have been further exacerbated by the effects of Hurricane Katrina,” stated B. According to DuPont Corporate Economist Robert H. Shrouds in a report he issued 12th September 2005, “Prices of crude oil, natural gas and refined petroleum products have risen to record levels and are expected to remain elevated. Even when adjusted for inflation, crude oil prices are higher than at any time except the 1979-82 period, and natural gas prices are at record highs.”
