Specialty chemicals group Lanxess is raising its prices for Trimethylolpropane with immediate effect. The increase amounts to an average of 20 percent and applies worldwide. The company says this decision is driven by ongoing, cumulative cost increases. These include significantly higher energy costs and rising raw material costs. Despite intensive efforts to mitigate these increases and maintain stable prices, an adjustment has become necessary in order to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of supplies. Trimethylolpropane is a key polyol intermediate in the polymer industry and is used, among other things, in the production of polyurethanes, polyester resins, coatings, and UV-curing plastics.
