Evonik Industries (www.evonik.com) will introduce a newly developed polyaryl ether amide resin system at this year’s technical conference of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) in Wichita, Kansas. The resin, sold under the brand name CALIDUR®, is a single-component system that is particularly suitable for applications in aircraft manufacturing. Thanks to its improved fiber adhesion, the product improves the mechanical properties of bonded fiber materials to create components with both high compressive strength and shear strength. Because of its exceptional mechanical properties, CALIDUR® is particularly suitable for use in structural components. The material stands out for its high temperature resistance, low moisture absorption, and good resistance to chemicals, as well as low exotherm and minimal shrinkage in the curing process. Fabrics treated with CALIDUR® also are significantly more flame retardant than those treated with conventional epoxy resins. As a result, CALIDUR® is suitable for interior aircraft applications in the aerospace industry, especially since the system is formaldehyde free. CALIDUR® also features good shelf-life stability at room temperatures and an excellent price-performance ratio. A scientific presentation on the product’s properties will accompany the market launch at the technical conference. |
