Baerlocher UK switches to 100% Calcium-based stabilizer production

Two years since starting production of Calcium-based additive one packs for PVC in the UK, Baerlocher announce that they have now completed the full conversion of their stabilizer production in Bury over to Calcium-based stabilizer one packs. This makes the Baerlocher plant the first stabilizer facility in Europe to achieve this milestone. An upgrading of granulation facilities in early 2011 will provide additional capacity for the Bury plant now able to produce >12,000 tonnes per annum.

Baerlocher started production in the UK with Lead stabilizer one-packs in 1996 to serve the uPVC building products sector.

Even during the severe economic crisis which has affected the construction sector, significant substitution of Lead stabilizers in all PVC applications by innovative Calcium-based systems has continued.

“Focusing our production in the UK on Calcium-based stabilizers again reinforces our commitment towards meeting the objectives of Vinyl 2010 and beyond, which aims to eliminate the use of Lead stabilizers in EU 27 completely by 2015” says Arne Schulle, CEO, Baerlocher Group of companies.
