A. Schulman: ICO Polymers Specialty Powders production now operating at full capacity in Gorla, Italy

In 2010, A. Schulman – a global supplier of engineering compounds, masterbatches and standard polymers purchased ICO Polymers, a global manufacturer of specialty powders.

To optimize ICO´s production capabilities in Europe, A. Schulman decided to relocate the production facility in Italy from Verolanuova to its masterbatch production plant in Gorla in 2011. That move is now successfully completed. New, high-efficient upgrades include the installation of a major €3 million rotomoulding powders production line and the addition of a new, state-of-the-art Leistritz twin screw compounding line.

In Europe ICO Polymers has production facilities in Holland, France, Great Britain and Gorla, Italy with the additional fully-staffed sales office in Verolanuova, providing ongoing customer support as usual.

Innovative polymer powder solution
ICO Polymers is the Speciality Powder Division of A. Schulman; it provides innovative specialty polymer powder solutions and services to a wide range of industries. And, because the production of masterbatches requires ICO powders, restructuring and optimizing the ICO production capabilities in Gorla has created new synergies that will provide faster response times and new product developments for customers.

More major investments on the way
In order to support the steady and profitable growth of its Specialty Powder business in Europe, A. Schulman has decided also to substantially invest in two new compounding lines and in a cryogenic milling line in the near future.
