Trelleborg: Swedes sell plant for vehicle components in the Czech Republic

The Swedish plastics company Trelleborg Group is divesting another plant for vehicle components in the Czech Republic.

According to a press release, the Group is selling its production facility in Hradec Králové to the Prague-based investment group Kaprain. In the press release, Trelleborg informed about the signing of a corresponding agreement, without going into the financial volume and further details of the transaction. The sale is expected to be finalised by the end of this year.

The plant, located east of Prague, produces technical rubber products for the automotive sector, primarily anti-vibration solutions for chassis and engines. According to the latest press release, sales at the plant totalled around SEK 450 million (EUR 38.5 million) last year.

Trelleborg CEO Peter Nilsson said: "It is pleasing to be able to announce this divestment. Anti-vibration solutions for light and heavy vehicles are not part of our core business. We are therefore pleased to have found a new owner who wants to further develop the business with a clearer regional focus."

Two years ago, the Kaprain investment group had already taken over the industry company Rubena in Náchod near Hradec Králové from Trelleborg, which primarily produces V-belts, air springs, bicycle tyres and tubes as well as rubber compounds. In the chemical industry, the Group also controls the synthetic resin manufacturer Spolchemie, based in Ústí nad Labem.

According to the Trelleborg Group, it is one of the world's leading suppliers of polymer solutions for industrial sealing, damping and hose systems. The Group, which is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, has around 16,700 employees in 40 countries and generated sales of around SEK 30.1 billion (EUR 2.576 billion) in the 2022 financial year.
