Grafe: Majority shareholding in Italian masterbatch manufacturer Gaypa

The Grafe Group, a German manufacturer of a wide range of masterbatches of all kinds, has acquired a majority stake in the Italian masterbatch producer Gaypa s.r.l. from Quinto Vicentino in north-east Italy's Veneto region, which the company says was finalised towards the end of the third quarter of 2023. This should result in many synergy effects for the customer base of both Gaypa and Grafe in Italy, the second largest European market for the processing of plastics. The exact amount of the investment was not disclosed.

Gaypa s.r.l., founded in 1972, specialises in the formulation, production and marketing of white, black and coloured masterbatches and additives. Gaypa claims to have around 50 employees and an annual turnover of around eleven million euros, almost half of which is generated abroad; however, most of the company's customers come from northern Italy. The previous owners of the family business Gaypa will continue to hold shares and the previous owner, Enrico Parolin, will remain managing director.

"We are delighted to welcome Gaypa with CEO Parolin and its almost 50 employees to the Grafe family", says Matthias Grafe, Managing Director of the Grafe Group in Blankenhain. "Both companies embody the special values of a family-run company in their organisational structure and have mastered the special requirements of customised plastic solutions", says Sebastian Grafe, Head of Sales Export at Grafe. "Thanks to the expanded production and development capacities, order peaks can now be better balanced out and the manufacturers' respective product portfolios can be expanded for customers", says Sebastian Grafe.
