Wipa Werkzeug- und Maschinenbau: Preliminary Insolvency Proceedings – Investor Process Initiated

Wipa Werkzeug- und Maschinenbau GmbH, based in Stadtlohn, Germany, has been in preliminary insolvency proceedings since October 1, 2025. The Münster District Court appointed attorney Dr. Ria Brüninghoff from Pluta Rechtsanwalts GmbH as the preliminary insolvency administrator. The aim of the administration is to stabilize business operations and develop a continuation solution with the involvement of an investor.

The company employs around 70 people and specializes in the development and manufacturing of recycling systems for plastics. Production is currently continuing without restrictions, and wages and salaries are secured through insolvency payments. The workforce was informed about the current situation during an employee meeting on October 2, 2025.

Dr. Brüninghoff is currently examining all restructuring options and has initiated a structured investor process. Talks with potential interested parties are planned. Management is working closely with the preliminary administrator. Attorney Oliver Ruhe-Schweigel from the law firm ks rechtsanwälte + notare gbr, based in Essen, is acting as legal representative of the debtor.

The reason for filing for insolvency lies in the generally weak market environment in the mechanical engineering sector, a decline in incoming orders, and increased costs. The new equipment business fell short of expectations. In addition, high inventory levels have led to a strained liquidity situation.

Wipa was founded in 1994 and has since been involved in the development and production of reprocessing and recycling systems for plastic waste as well as individual system components. The company primarily serves industrial customers in the recycling sector. Its goal is to recover materials from waste and return them to the production cycle. The company also offers various solutions for inline recycling.
