Tesa: Plant Expansion in Offenburg

The adhesive tape manufacturer tesa SE has started a significant investment project with the beginning of construction for the plant expansion in Offenburg. The goal of the expansion is to adapt production capacities to the growing demand for industrial and consumer products.

The Offenburg plant, which has been producing the well-known "tesafilm" since its commissioning in 1961, is now the company's highest-volume production site. With an annual production of around 200 million square meters of adhesive tape and over 2,000 product variants, tesa primarily supplies markets such as the automotive and electrical industries. Production start-up at the expanded plant is scheduled for 2027.

Plant Manager Holger Rauth emphasized that the project not only serves to expand capacity but is also part of the sustainability strategy. Earlier this year, a photovoltaic system with over 13,000 modules was commissioned, which supplies six gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, covering a quarter of the plant's energy needs. The measure is considered an important step towards climate-friendly production for the approximately 500 employees at the site.

The plant expansion is part of the global sustainability initiative "we do," with which tesa is investing around 300 million euros in the sustainable transformation of its production sites by 2030. According to the company, it has already achieved a CO₂ reduction of 39 percent (Scope 1 and 2) and covers 90 percent of its worldwide electricity consumption from renewable sources.
