Polymer-Service PSG GmbH is expanding its portfolio with the "Lumiloy" material series from LG Chem. These newly developed engineering plastics are based on modified polyphenylene ether (mPPE) and are specifically designed for applications in water treatment. "Lumiloy" is offered as a glass-fiber-reinforced PPE/PS blend. The main types, GP2200K (20% GF) and GP2300K (30% GF), are designed to combine high mechanical strength with pronounced resistance to moisture and temperature stress. Typical applications include water softeners, pump housings, boiler components, valves, water meters, and pool heating systems. PSG cites the high hydrolysis resistance as a key feature of the "Lumiloy" materials. In long-term tests with 90 °C hot water over 8,000 hours, the materials reportedly showed almost unchanged mechanical properties. This is intended to offer significantly higher long-term stability and operational reliability compared to established engineering plastics. According to PSG, "Lumiloy" GP2200K and GP2300K meet the most important international requirements for drinking water applications, including KTW (Germany), WRAS (Great Britain), NSF (USA), and ACS (France). This makes them suitable for components that come into contact with drinking and hot water. Technical Data (Excerpt)
