Clariant has announced a strategic partnership with the Chinese chemical company Fuhua to produce novel, halogen-free flame retardants. The joint venture, which is still subject to regulatory approval, is planned to establish a production facility for phosphorus-based flame retardants in Leshan, Sichuan Province. The goal is to develop new products for applications in construction, automotive, electrical engineering, and electronics that meet increasing technical and regulatory requirements. The cooperation is based on an existing research and development collaboration between the two companies and aims to combine their respective expertise. Clariant is thus pursuing a strategy to accelerate the transition to more sustainable flame retardant technologies while ensuring product performance. According to Clariant manager Angela Cackovich, the partnership represents an important step in offering customers solutions that meet both growing performance demands and tightened environmental regulations. Manuel Mueller, Head of Strategy and Innovation, also emphasized the project's contribution to further strengthening Clariant's innovation and sustainability strategy in the additives sector. The project is part of a series of recent investments by the company in China. These include the expansion of the "Exolit" OP production at the Daya Bay plant by a second line, amounting to approximately 100 million Swiss francs, as well as the commissioning of a new production line for the "Nylostab" S-EED stabilizer at the Cangzhou plant. Both measures are intended to further expand Clariant's local production capacity and innovative strength in the Asian market. More information: www.clariant.com |
