The French specialty chemicals group Arkema has commissioned a new production plant for transparent Polyamide 11 materials under the "Rilsan Clear" brand in Singapore. The group announced this in a press release in mid-January. According to the report, the costs for the project at the company's site on Jurong Island in southwestern Singapore amounted to approximately 20 million USD. No specific details regarding exact capacities were provided; however, according to the announcement, the new facility has tripled Arkema's total production capacity for "Rilsan Clear" materials. Arkema manager Laurent Tellier explained: "We are very proud of this strategic expansion in the field of transparent polyamides, which further strengthens our position as a leading global manufacturer of specialty polyamides. This is the next step in expanding our key platform in Singapore and contributes to our strategy of building a local and competitive supply close to our customers in the region." With this capacity expansion, Arkema is responding to the continued increase in demand for transparent polyamides, which are used in the manufacture of eyewear, AR/VR applications, smart electronics, industrial filter systems, medical technology, and household appliances, among others. Based in Colombes near Paris, Arkema employs more than 21,100 people worldwide. In the first nine months of the 2025 fiscal year, the publicly listed group generated total sales of 6.963 billion EUR, achieving an operating profit of 313 million EUR and a net profit of 132 million EUR.
