Cabka: Plastic recycler investigates cyberattack on IT systems

The Dutch plastic recycler and manufacturer of reusable transport packaging, Cabka, has detected a cybersecurity incident affecting parts of its IT systems. The company stated that the incident was discovered last weekend.

According to Cabka, it immediately activated its internal emergency protocols for IT security incidents after the discovery. Affected systems were isolated, and external cybersecurity specialists were brought in to conduct a forensic investigation of the incident.

The investigations are currently ongoing. The company said that the exact scope and potential impact of the incident have not yet been fully determined.

Cabka is currently examining in particular whether personal data or commercially sensitive information may have been accessed or exfiltrated without authorization. The relevant authorities have been informed in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

The company stated that it is working closely with suppliers and customers to assess any potential impact.

According to Cabka, operational business activities are continuing as normal.

Cabka, headquartered in the Netherlands, processes plastic waste from post-consumer and post-industrial streams into reusable transport packaging, including pallets and large load carriers for logistics applications. In addition, the company produces construction and traffic safety products from post-consumer plastic waste.
