Eurokey: New plastics recycling plant in Corby

Eurokey, a company belonging to the UK-based Reconomy Group, is building a new plastics recycling plant in the East Midlands.

According to the company’s press release, the complex, covering just under 1.3 hectares, is being built at the Corby site. The facility is planned to have the capacity to recycle around 38,000 tonnes of plastic waste per year. The investment volume amounts to around GBP 20 million (EUR 23 million). Completion of the plant is announced in the release for the second half of this year, and more than 30 permanent jobs are planned.

At the new facility, Eurokey intends primarily to process plastic waste from the retail sector. The materials will first be prepared at the company’s sorting facility in nearby Kettering and then recycled in Corby into granulates for the production of new packaging.

Eurokey Managing Director John Dhillon said: “This is a significant milestone for our business and for the UK plastics recycling industry. The plant will play an important role in increasing domestic recycling capacity and reducing reliance on virgin plastics by keeping high-quality material in circulation. It will also benefit the local economy.”
