MGS: Acquisition of Danish injection moulding company Knudsen Plast

US plastics processor MGS has strengthened its position with the acquisition of Danish injection moulding company Knudsen Plast. MGS announced the move in a press release at the end of February, without disclosing the financial volume or further details of the transaction.

Knudsen Plast has been producing injection moulded components for the medical sector for around 40 years. The company is headquartered in Frederiksværk on the island of Zealand and operates another plant in Vranov nad Topľou in eastern Slovakia. The two sites are equipped with 36 and 52 injection moulding machines respectively, with production taking place in Class 8 and Class 7 cleanrooms. In total, Knudsen Plast employs more than 200 people.

With the acquisition, MGS is expanding its cleanroom production capacity in Europe and gaining additional expertise in injection moulding for the medical sector, as well as improved access to regional supply chains.

MGS is a globally active, vertically integrated contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) for plastic components used in medical technology. Based in Germantown, Wisconsin, the company operates 13 production sites in the US, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ireland, Belgium, Germany (Dortmund), Sweden and Denmark, with a total workforce of around 1,600.
