Norma Group: Major order for line systems in premium vehicles

Norma Group has received a major order from a leading automotive manufacturer for purge lines and other plastic line systems. The components are scheduled to be delivered directly to customer plants in Europe and the US from 2029. The contract runs for seven years and has a potential total volume of up to EUR 30 million.

The line systems are intended for a central engine platform used in upper-class and premium vehicles with combustion engines as well as hybrid drives. The systems will be produced at Norma Group sites in Mexico and Serbia.

The order focuses on purge lines, which form part of the vehicle’s emissions control system. They are used to route fuel vapours from the tank and evaporative emissions system in a controlled manner. Such vapours can arise particularly during refuelling and as a result of changes in temperature and pressure, and may contain volatile organic compounds. In the vehicle, they are initially stored in an activated carbon canister. The purge lines then route the vapours to the engine, where they are fed into the combustion process. This prevents them from escaping into the environment unfiltered.

The line systems, which are up to five metres long, consist of thermoplastic pipes and plug-in connectors of the “SR Safe Lock” and “SR Single Lock” types. These were developed in accordance with standards issued by SAE, the Society of Automotive Engineers.

According to the company, the order strengthens Norma Group’s position in fluid management systems for the automotive industry. By supplying plants in Europe and the US and producing in Mexico and Serbia, the company is relying on an internationally oriented manufacturing and supply structure.
