Excelitas: Infrared technology optimizes thermal processes in plastics processing

Infrared systems enable targeted and energy-efficient heating in plastics processing. Heat is transferred directly to the required areas of components, edges or film sections without heating the entire machine or surrounding environment.

Emitters adapted to the geometry of components and production lines ensure uniform temperature distribution and can be integrated into compact machine concepts. Controllable heating zones also allow precise adjustment to different process requirements.

Short-wave infrared is characterized by short heating and response times. This can shorten cycle times, reduce thermal stress on materials and allow processes to be interrupted quickly in the event of machine stoppages.

Applications include film embossing, edge processing and plastics welding. Excelitas will showcase corresponding infrared emitters and system solutions at Fakuma 2026.
