Nolden Control Systems: Mobile “FlowExpert” Measures Cooling Water Flow and Temperature

At Fakuma 2026, Nolden Regelsysteme GmbH will present “FlowExpert,” a portable measuring device for monitoring cooling water circuits on injection molds. The battery-powered device measures water flow and temperature and is designed particularly for moldmaking as well as for short-term measurements during ongoing production.

For several years, Nolden has offered cooling water monitoring that can be integrated into its control systems. Depending on the quality or level of contamination of the cooling medium, ultrasonic or rotary flow sensors are used. The systems can monitor between two and 48 cooling circuits. With “FlowExpert,” the company is now expanding its portfolio with a mobile solution.

The compact device features a combined flow and temperature sensor and can be equipped with different quick couplings depending on the application. Flow rates in l/min and temperatures in °C are displayed on a color touchscreen. The measurement data can also be displayed graphically over time. In addition, the data can be transferred via Wi-Fi as a CSV file.

At Fakuma, Nolden will also showcase an add-on controller for injection molding machines with an optional cooling water monitor. Another focus will be the “DynaHeat” nozzle control system, which the company introduced in 2025 to mark its 50th anniversary. According to Nolden, the system controls heating power 20 times faster than conventional heating systems. Its target applications include particularly fast and miniaturized nozzles for packaging and medical technology applications.

With its faster heating power control, Nolden is responding to increasingly dynamic requirements for small hot-runner nozzles. At the same time, the company continues to use its patented AI-based control technology for other applications.
