Sika: Acquisition of Turkish Adhesives and Sealants Manufacturer Akkim Completed

Sika AG has completed the acquisition of Turkish adhesives and sealants manufacturer Akkim. The transaction expands the Swiss specialty chemicals group’s product portfolio, distribution channels and production capacity. Financial details were not disclosed.

Akkim generated net sales of around CHF 220 million in 2025. Through an established distribution network, the company supplies customers primarily in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. Its portfolio comprises adhesives and sealants for various construction applications and, according to the company, is based on proprietary formulations.

Akkim’s production network includes two major plants in Türkiye and Romania. The company is also developing another site in Türkiye. Sika plans to use the capacity as a manufacturing and export hub for adhesives and sealants. Combining the two companies’ portfolios is also expected to create additional sales opportunities through specialist distributors as well as retail and online channels.

Sika announced the planned acquisition in February 2026. At the time, completion was scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. The acquisition forms part of the group’s Strategy 2028, which includes expanding its adhesives and sealants business and strengthening its presence across distribution channels.

Headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, Sika AG develops and manufactures systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protecting in the construction and industrial sectors. The group operates in 103 countries, has more than 400 plants and employed around 33,700 people in 2025. Its sales amounted to CHF 11.20 billion in the same year.
