Syensqo: New Compounding Line in India Doubles Capacity for High-Performance Aromatic Polymers

Syensqo is investing in a new compounding line for high-performance aromatic polymers at its Panoli site in the Indian state of Gujarat. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2028 and will double the site’s existing compounding capacity. The company did not disclose the investment amount or the facility’s absolute production capacity.

The line will be the first component of a modular compounding center. It will be capable of processing various materials from the company’s portfolio. These include Ryton polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), KetaSpire polyetheretherketone (PEEK), Amodel polyphthalamide (PPA), and Ixef polyarylamide (PARA). The flexible design will enable Syensqo to adapt production to changes in demand and varying customer requirements.

The expansion will increase the specialty chemicals group’s local supply capacity for Indian and international automotive manufacturers and suppliers. The high-performance polymers are used in vehicle components that require high resistance to heat and chemicals, mechanical strength, and low weight. The facility will also supply other industries.

The investment follows the increasing localization of production and supply chains in India and is linked to the government’s “Make in India” initiative. Syensqo already has manufacturing and research and development operations in the country.
