Epigral: Entry into Epoxy Resins with Annual Capacity of 125,000 Tonnes

Indian chemical manufacturer Epigral Limited plans to enter epoxy resin production at its manufacturing complex in Dahej, Gujarat. According to a notice filed by the company with the Indian stock exchanges BSE and NSE, an epoxy resin and formulations plant with an annual capacity of 125,000 tonnes is to be built at the site. Commissioning is scheduled for the second half of the 2027/28 financial year.

At the same time, Epigral intends to construct a multi-purpose plant (MPP) in Dahej. The company estimates the total investment for both projects at around INR 6 billion (600 crore). The projects are to be financed through internal funds and debt. According to Epigral, the investments are aimed at expanding its product portfolio and meeting growing demand.

The epoxy resin plant will enable Epigral to further integrate into the downstream value chain. The company already produces key raw materials such as epichlorohydrin (ECH) and caustic soda at its Dahej site. Epigral says that more than 50% of the raw material value required for the planned epoxy resin production will be sourced from the site itself. Target markets cited by the company include construction, renewable energy, automotive, electronics, infrastructure, marine and aerospace.

The planned multi-purpose plant, meanwhile, will manufacture downstream products based on the existing epichlorohydrin and chlorotoluene value chains. According to Epigral, target markets include pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates as well as water-treatment chemicals. Ahead of the start of commercial production, the company plans to commission a pilot plant for epoxy resins, formulations and MPP products by the second quarter of the 2026/27 financial year. The pilot plant will be used for process optimization, quality validation and customer approvals.
