Barlog Plastics: Recycled-Content Compounds and PFAS-Free Material Concepts

At Fakuma 2026, Barlog Plastics GmbH will present recycled-content compounds, PFAS-free material solutions for tribological applications and services for assessing the environmental impact of material decisions.

Recycled-content compounds for technical applications
The “Keballoy Eco” portfolio comprises engineering plastics and high-performance compounds based on post-consumer and post-industrial recyclates. The focus is on materials containing high-quality post-consumer recyclates for applications that require not only recycled content but also defined technical properties and consistent processing performance.

Barlog Plastics also develops application-specific closed-loop systems. Production scrap or end-of-life components are processed and reused as feedstock for plastic applications. The aim is to return existing material streams to the production cycle and reduce the use of virgin raw materials.

PFAS-free alternatives for tribological components
Another focus at the trade fair will be PFAS-free bearing materials as alternatives to PTFE-modified compounds. Since requirements vary by application, the company develops its material concepts according to the relevant operating conditions. Factors considered include temperature, chemical resistance, mechanical loads, and friction and wear performance.

According to Barlog Plastics, tailored combinations of fillers can provide tribological properties without the use of PTFE. The development of such alternatives is becoming increasingly important in light of the proposed European restriction on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances.
