Italian biopolymer manufacturer Krillmat will present two material families under its "Rekrill" brand at Fakuma 2026. At stand ÜO-16-2 in the start-up area, the company will showcase both compostable polymers and polymers designed for conventional plastics recycling. According to the manufacturer, both material groups are made from 100% bio-based raw materials and are designed for processing on existing plastics processing equipment. Two Different End-of-Life Routes The "Rekrill Compostable" product line is manufactured from by-products of the agricultural and food industries, including hazelnut shells, grape pomace and orange peels. According to the manufacturer, the materials are biodegradable and compostable. The colours and surface textures of the various material grades reflect their respective raw materials. The new "Rekrill Recyclable" product line, by contrast, is designed to be recycled through conventional plastics recycling streams. According to the company, this polymer is also entirely bio-based and was developed with the requirements of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) in mind. Krillmat lists extrusion, injection moulding, rotational moulding and blow moulding as suitable processing methods. Processing on Existing Equipment According to the company, the materials can be integrated into existing production processes without the need to replace machinery or tooling. At the trade fair, Krillmat will present various material grades, surface finishes and colours. The company will also provide information on application-specific formulation adjustments.
