Trelleborg: Acquisition of Tri-Mack Expands High-Performance Thermoplastics Business

Trelleborg AB (publ), headquartered in Trelleborg, Sweden, has signed an agreement to acquire US-based Tri-Mack Plastics Manufacturing Corp. through its Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area. According to an announcement issued by the group on October 21, 2026, the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Founded in 1974, Tri-Mack manufactures high-performance thermoplastic and thermoplastic composite components at its facility in Bristol, Rhode Island, USA. Its products are used in airframe structures and aircraft engines. The company also supplies manufacturers of semiconductor equipment and industrial gas turbines. According to Trelleborg, Tri-Mack generated sales of approximately SEK 300 million in the 2025 financial year.

According to the company, Tri-Mack covers the entire process chain, from component design and material selection to prototyping, tooling, manufacturing and assembly. Its manufacturing processes include injection moulding, composite thermoforming, multi-axis machining, bonding and assembly. Materials processed include polyether ether ketone (PEEK), polyamide-imide (PAI), polyetherimide (PEI) and polyphenylene sulphide (PPS). The company also operates fully automated manufacturing cells equipped with robots.

Through the acquisition, Trelleborg aims to expand its portfolio of thermoplastic solutions for aerospace applications and strengthen its capabilities in plastic and composite components. The group sees Tri-Mack as a complement to the aerospace business it has developed through previous acquisitions. Trelleborg identifies demand for weight reduction, shorter manufacturing lead times and improved cost efficiency as key drivers behind the increasing use of thermoplastic composites in aerospace applications.
