Ergis: Film Manufacturer Expands Production in Oława, Poland

Polish film manufacturer Ergis is expanding production capacity at its site in Oława. A new warehouse and an additional production hall are currently being built on the factory premises, with a new production line to be installed in the latter.

According to the company, the buildings are scheduled for completion in autumn 2026. Production on the new line is expected to start around mid-2027. Ergis has not yet disclosed which product will be manufactured there or what capacity the line will have.

According to Sales Director Jarosław Ciświcki, the investment is a response both to the company’s own growth and to new regulatory requirements. Around half of the plant’s production is currently sold in Poland, while the other half is exported. At the same time, increasingly stringent requirements regarding the use of recycled materials are making further investment necessary.

One of the factors behind this is the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). In future, it will require plastic packaging to contain minimum shares of recycled material from post-consumer waste. For many types of plastic packaging, the required share will be 35 percent from 2030.

The expansion is also expected to increase the number of employees in Oława. Around 210 people currently work at the site. Once the new production line is commissioned, approximately 20 to 25 additional jobs are expected to be created. Recruitment is scheduled to begin in spring 2027.

The Oława plant is part of Ergis’ industrial packaging division. Products manufactured there include PE stretch and pre-stretch films, nanoErgis films, and PET strapping sold under the “Greenstrap” brand.
