Direct fastening enables robust yet cost-effective connections in engineering plastics. Since self-tapping screws form the thread directly during installation, additional process steps such as drilling and thread cutting are eliminated. This reduces production time, part variety and potential sources of error. With its “Evo PT” screw, Ejot is targeting applications with particularly high thermal and mechanical requirements. According to the supplier, the thread geometry ensures a largely constant driving torque over the screw-in depth. This is intended to standardize assembly processes and allow different clamping thicknesses to be handled with comparable tightening torques. In addition, the “Evo Calc” calculation software supports the design of screw connections. It predicts torque, preload forces and relaxation behavior under the influence of temperature. FEM analyses also help identify critical load areas at an early stage and enable design modifications to be made during the development phase.
