Hekuma: Automation line for the production of pipette tips with a cycle time of less than 5 seconds

The automation specialist HEKUMA GmbH (www.hekuma.com) presents at the FAKUMA 2009 its advanced automation line for the production of pipette tips with a cycle time of less than 5 seconds.

Due to its latest drive technology and innovative, weight-optimized take-out robot, the HEKUMA linear axis has a maximum acceleration of more than 9 G. The mold open time is approximately 0.45 sec. Thus product cycle times of 4.9 sec. and less are possible. Essential parts of the clean room compatible take-out robot are made from aluminium, milled from solid metal. This means 30% less weight without compromises of rigidity and long-term stability.

„Machine as clean room”
The system is designed for the cost saving concept "machine as clean room", avoiding in many cases expensive clean room environments because the automation system itself is built as a clean room. By means of effective picture processing systems which check every single pipette tip regarding the precision of the outer and inner diameter, HEKUMA achieves 100% quality control. HEKUMA´s take-out technology, applying two independent testing methods of each, makes sure that absolutely all parts are taken out of each cavity.

Compared to classic SPS-based visualizations, HEKUMA´s latest PC-based process visualization allows a considerably higher scope of operation combined with improved user friendliness and reduced capacity utilization of the SPS control.
