Adval Tech awarded large order from BMW

The Adval Tech Group has received a large order from BMW for the new generation of its Series 1 and 3 models. Adval Tech commenced joint product and process development with BMW in August 2009. The group will manufacture twelve components for the air/water separation systems in production runs of millions. Adval Tech will supply the BMW assembly lines in Leipzig, Munich and Regensburg from its plant in Szekszárd, Hungary, and BMW’s assembly lines in Asia and South Africa from its plant in Suzhou, China. Adval Tech’s ability to produce components featuring identical functions and quality standards worldwide was an important prerequisite for BMW’s decision.

The order from BMW for air/water separation systems is the first major order received by Adval Tech direct from an automobile manufacturer rather than via a component supplier. The systematic strategic repositioning of Adval Tech as a global technology and value-adding partner with its own manufacturing facilities in all major geographical markets is thus bearing its first fruit. The order volume over the total duration of the multi-year project amounts to well over CHF 50 million.

Adval Tech’s management structure for this project is just as global as the order. Project management is based in Muri (Switzerland), production molds are being manufactured in Haslach (Germany) and Suzhou (China), and the components will be produced at Adval Tech’s manufacturing facilities in Szekszárd (Hungary) and Suzhou (China).

The twelve components supplied by Adval Tech will be used in the windshield/engine compartment, where they will ensure the separation of fresh air and rainwater, so that only dry air can pass into the airconditioning unit and the sensitive equipment in the engine compartment is protected against water.
