Energenta AG, listed on the Munich Stock Exchange and based in Münster, published its financial figures for the year 2024 in September 2025. The company, which has subsidiaries and associated companies in Germany and Romania, recorded significant revenue declines following a period of volatile market conditions in plastics recycling but is focusing on a strategic realignment. Business Development 2024 Following a market crisis in plastics recycling that intensified from 2023, the Energenta Group's revenue in the 2024 financial year fell to 11.42 million euros (previous year: 25.04 million euros). Reasons included in particular the sale and resulting deconsolidation of Energenta Ersatzbrennstoffe GmbH and declining revenues of the Romanian subsidiary energenta polymers s.r.l. in the trade of virgin material and recyclates. Unadjusted EBIT amounted to -4.9 million euros; adjusted for unscheduled goodwill impairments, EBIT was 2.0 million euros (previous year: 2.3 million euros). EBITDA reached 2.9 million euros after 3.4 million euros in the previous year. As part of the strategic realignment, the group sold its 50 percent stake in Energenta Ersatzbrennstoffe GmbH to a strategic investor at the beginning of 2024. The sale also included the corresponding operating site in Ochtrup, the economic transfer of which was completed in 2025. The resulting gain from the disposal of non-current assets amounted to around 4.7 million euros in 2024. At the same time, unscheduled impairments of five million euros on goodwill, which were non-cash relevant, had to be made. Strategic Focus In the future, the Energenta Group intends to concentrate on the "Regrind" and "Regranulates & Compounds" business segments to place a stronger focus on high-quality and resource-saving recyclate applications. In a weak market environment, the company also sees opportunities for inorganic growth through targeted acquisitions. CEO Gisbert Schulte-Bücker emphasized that the group is sticking to its long-term strategy despite the market turbulence: The growing demand for recyclates, especially in the automotive and packaging sectors, will significantly increase demand in the coming years. Investments in new plants and capacity expansions are intended to pick up on this trend and strengthen the competitive position. Energenta AG unites five operating companies in the field of plastics recycling: energenta recycling solutions GmbH, Emrec GmbH (33.33 percent shareholding), energenta polymers s.r.l., Kunststoff Veredelung Gronau GmbH, and Sysplast GmbH. Together, they offer a broad portfolio of services – from consulting and processing to the return of plastics to closed-loop material cycles. The company processes plastics from the areas of thermoplastics, thermosets, and elastomers and delivers – depending on the degree of purity. More information: www.energenta.ag |
