Wittmann Group: All-electric injection molding solutions for energy- and material-efficient production

According to manufacturer Wittmann, the new all-electric “EcoPrimus” injection moulding machine offers particularly high cost efficiency. At Fakuma 2026, it will demonstrate its performance by producing protective caps for insulin pens in an 8-cavity mould - (All images: Wittmann).
The Wittmann Group will place the focus on all-electric injection molding machines and automated production solutions at Fakuma 2026. Three live applications will demonstrate potential savings in energy, material, cycle time, and floor space.

One highlight is the new all-electric EcoPrimus injection molding machine with a clamping force of 1,000 kN. At the trade fair, it will produce protective caps for insulin pens in an eight-cavity mold from Kistler. Designed for compact single-component injection molding, the machine achieves injection speeds of up to 200 mm/s and is equipped with the B8X control generation.

The HiQ Packing assistance system is used for process control. It monitors screw movement at the switchover point and during the holding-pressure phase. This is intended to stabilize pressure distribution and cavity filling, particularly in multi-cavity molds.

According to Wittmann, the FlexCell plus encloses all automation components—from part removal to packaging—in a compact, safe unit, while still allowing very easy access to the mold area at all times.
The machine is combined with a FlexCell plus automation cell. On a compact footprint, this integrates a linear robot, a conveyor and box transfer system, as well as additional automation components. The molded parts can be deposited directly into crates, small load carriers, or cardboard boxes and stacked according to predefined patterns. The cell can be moved sideways as a complete unit to provide access to the mold area. It is also compatible with injection molding machines from other manufacturers and can be integrated into existing production lines.

A second application focuses on micro injection molding. An all-electric MicroPower 15/10 produces a lab-on-a-chip component made of transparent polypropylene. The channels in the sample part have a diameter of 0.04 mm, while the corner radii are as small as 0.005 mm. The application uses 3D-printed two-cavity mold inserts from NanoVoxel in a mold base from Ernst Wittner.

The MicroPower combines everything you need for production in a footprint of just two square meters.
All-electric “EcoPower” series
The MicroPower is designed for shot weights between 0.05 and 4 grams. On a footprint of around two square meters, it integrates a rotary table, automation, temperature control, and quality assurance, among other functions. The injection plunger extends up to the mold parting line, reducing the melt cushion and sprue volume. Commercially available standard granulates can be processed.

Another application demonstrates the processing of liquid silicone rubber. At the Nexus Elastomer Systems booth, an EcoPower 110/350 B8X in LSR configuration will produce silicone lids for beverage cans, bottles, and cups. The system operates with a four-cavity mold, a Wittmann W918 linear robot, and a ServoMix X200 metering system from Nexus.

The EcoPower series uses servo direct drives and recovered braking energy. Its modular machine concept is designed for applications with high requirements in terms of precision, dynamics, and process cleanliness.
