Arburg: Standalone robots with their own control system

At Fakuma 2026, Arburg is presenting robotic systems as standalone solutions for the first time, allowing them to be used independently of an injection moulding machine. The range includes linear robots from the "Multilift Select" series as well as Yaskawa SCARA and six-axis robots in the "Powered by Arburg" version. According to the company, the solutions will initially be available to customers in Europe from the start of the trade fair.

The standalone robots are intended for handling tasks in plastic parts production and for upstream and downstream processes. These include preparing parts for feeding, kitting and packaging. Individual robots or interconnected systems can be integrated into new turnkey systems and retrofitted into existing production systems regardless of the manufacturer.

For its linear standalone systems, Arburg offers the "Multilift Select" with payloads ranging from four to 16 kilograms. This version is designed for standard tasks. Yaskawa six-axis robots are intended to handle more complex handling sequences. At the trade fair stand, a separate upstream cell demonstrates how several interconnected robots work together.

For independent programming and operation, the standalone versions feature an expanded control cabinet with their own control system and the new "rControl" mobile control panel. Its user interface is based on Arburg's "Gestica" machine control system. The compact device allows users to create robot programs and control handling processes independently of the injection moulding machine. Integration into existing production environments is provided via the Euromap 67 robot interface.

With this offering, Arburg is expanding its automation portfolio to include systems that can also be used beyond applications directly linked to a machine. This is intended to allow existing systems to be expanded gradually and remain in use for longer. The company provides no specific figures on investment costs or productivity gains.

According to Arburg, the company assumes responsibility for CE marking for production cells with injection moulding machines from the "Allrounder" series. For systems incorporating machines from other manufacturers, the announcement states that this responsibility lies with the customer.
