Wintec: Two-platen machine produces 360 clothes hangers per hour

At Fakuma 2026, Wintec will demonstrate high-volume production on a two-platen injection molding machine from its “t-win” series. At the booth, a “t-win 6500” with a clamping force of 6,500 kN will produce clothes hangers for Leifheit. Using a 4+4-cavity family mold and a cycle time of around 40 seconds, the system achieves an output of approximately 360 clothes hangers per hour.

The mold simultaneously produces four hanger bodies and four hooks, with the two geometries arranged separately within the mold. A “viper 20” linear robot removes the parts and places them on a conveyor belt. A polypropylene copolymer from Borouge International is used as the material.

With this exhibit, Wintec is focusing in particular on the rapid availability and commissioning of near-standard machines for high-volume production. The machine concept is designed to enable companies to add production capacity with limited customization and investment requirements. At the same time, the machine is designed for minimal maintenance and ease of operation.

The compact design is based on the two-platen concept of the “t-win” series. The servo-hydraulic clamping system enables rapid clamping force build-up and synchronous locking. Because the moving platen does not come into contact with the tie bars, friction and wear in the clamping unit are reduced. A rigid mechanical design and high platen parallelism support the reproducibility of the injection molding process.

The injection unit is also designed to minimize friction losses. Linear guides reduce energy consumption while enabling precise control of injection and back pressure. The machine is operated via the “C3” control system, featuring a 15-inch Full HD touchscreen and one-touch functions. The control platform also allows additional functions to be retrofitted at a later stage.

The standard equipment includes assistance systems from Engel. These include “iQ weight control,” which automatically compensates for fluctuations in the injection molding process and helps stabilize the injection volume. The aim is to reduce scrap rates and accelerate production restart after downtime or changes in ambient conditions.
