Ticona: price increases for thermoplastic resin grades worldwide

Ticona (www.ticona.com), the engineering polymers business of Celanese Corporation (www.celanese.com), recently announced price increases and a transportation surcharge for thermoplastic resin grades effective June 16, 2008, or as contracts allow, in North and South America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific region. The company said unprecedented increases in raw material, energy and transportation charges necessitated the increases.

Ticona standard thermoplastic resin grades will increase as follows:

In North and South America:
• Hostaform® and Celcon® acetal copolymer (POM), and Amcel® natural and black acetal products — $0.10 per pound
• Celanex® thermoplastic polyester (PBT), Vandar® thermoplastic polyester alloys (PBT), Impet® thermoplastic polyester (PET) and Riteflex® thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPC-ET) products — $0.10 per pound
• Celstran® long fiber reinforced thermoplastic (LFRT) products — $0.07 per pound
• Vectra® liquid crystal polymer (LCP) products (except A Series) — $0.35 per pound
• Vectra LCP A Series products — $0.45 per pound

In Europe, Middle East and Africa:
• Hostaform POM, Celcon POM and Amcel acetal — 0.15 € per kilogram
• Celanex PBT, Vandar PBT, Impet PET and Riteflex TPC-ET — 0.15 € per kilogram
• Celstran LFRT — 0.10 € per kilogram
• Vectra LCP (except A Series) — 0.45 € per kilogram
• Vectra LCP A Series — 0.60 € per kilogram

In the Asia Pacific region:
• Hostaform POM, Celcon POM and Amcel acetal — $0.20 per kilogram
• Celanex PBT, Vandar PBT, Impet PET and Riteflex TPC-ET — $0.20 per kilogram
• Celstran LFRT — $0.20 per kilogram
• Vectra LCP (except A Series) — $0.75 per kilogram
• Vectra LCP A Series — $1.00 per kilogram

Specialty grades and colors in all thermoplastic product families will increase based on product, color and grade selection.

Also, Ticona is adding a surcharge for transportation costs on all products effective June 16, 2008, or as contracts allow, including Hostaform POM, Celcon POM, Amcel acetal, Celanex PBT, Vectra LCP, Riteflex TPC-ET, Celstran LFRT, Compel LFRT, Impet PET, Vandar PET, GUR® ultra-high molecular weigh polyethylene (UHMW-PE), and Fortron® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS).

• In North and South America — $0.02 per pound
• In Europe, Middle East and Africa — 0.03 € per kilogram
• In the Asia Pacific region — $0.04 per kilogram
