The Recycling & Granulators Division of Hosokawa Alpine AG & Co. OHG (www.alpinehosokawa.com) will present a cross-section of recycling solutions for the different problem specifications in the plastics industry at the K 2004. Of interest to the manufacturers of film will be a large-scale grinding system 80/200 CL from the compact line series which will demonstrate the processing of BOPP and BOPET films. Grinding systems from this product line are used around the world by film manufacturers in both off-line and in-line mode, and are available for throughput rates of up to 10 t/h. In the efforts to offer its customers solutions for faster, less complicated and more cost-effective processes, Alpine developed the "Edge Trim Cutter" TC 175. This machine makes it possible to cut continuous film edge trims in just one conveyor pipe and to do away with the time-consuming manual intervention necessary up until now. The new Edge Trim Cutter offers a trouble-free change-over and back-up solution for the continuous edge trim feeding process. With the newly developed ground product dedusting systems from the KS series, Hosokawa Alpine will be showing solutions for the injection moulding and injection blow molding sector. A wide range of dust removal solutions will be presented, from ultrafine dedusting to "fractionation", and the excellent results achieved in dry cleaning PET flakes (separation of labels and fluff, etc.) will also be demonstrated. As an example of a complete in-house plastics recycling system, a sound-insulated granulator type 28/40 from the Polymer Series will be on exhibit, combined with a KS classifier to separate the superfines and a semi-automatic filter for the efficient removal of the exhaust air dust. The exhibits will also include a 50/80 Ro granulator, which represents the latest and meanwhile 4th generation of the proven Rotoplex granulators. The Rotoplex is the heavy-duty high-performance granulator and is absolutely universal in use. Ideally suitable for materials that are difficult to cut and for which high cutting forces are necessary. Dependent on the material and type of screen perforations, the 50/80 Ro attains throughput rates of between 1500 and 2000 kg/h. A fine-cutting mill type 315 AFS completes the range of exhibits. This mill is designed for the fine processing of soft to medium-hard plastics. The end products are characterised by a smooth and cubic form, which means that the recycled material is free-flowing and is therefore ideal for metering and downstream processes.
