Carbios has concluded two new multi-year supply agreements with major companies in the beverage industry for the provision of recycled PET (r-PET). This marks the first time the company has systematically entered the strategically important beverage sector. The agreements are part of the ongoing pre-marketing process for the planned industrial biorecycling plant in Longlaville. According to the company, approximately 50 percent of the maximum production capacity is now secured through pre-contracts. Negotiations are being held with additional potential partners to reach a quota of 70 percent – a target figure considered a prerequisite for additional non-dilutive financing required for the resumption of construction work on the facility. In parallel, regional funding amounting to 12.5 million euros has been pledged. This brings the total secured public funding to 42.5 million euros. Carbios develops enzyme-based processes for the biological recycling of plastics and textiles. The company has operated a demonstration plant for PET biorecycling since 2021; the construction of the world's first industrial biorecycling plant is scheduled to resume by the end of 2025, subject to financing. Carbios CEO Vincent Kamel views the new contracts as confirmation of the technical maturity of the PET biorecycling technology as well as the relevance of the offering in key application areas such as the beverage industry.
