In the insolvency proceedings of Vynova Wilhelmshaven GmbH, the sale of the production site to Westlake Vinnolit GmbH & Co. KG has been completed. Following the required regulatory approvals, the purchase agreement was notarized and the transaction finalized. Insolvency administrator Dr. Christian Kaufmann of Pluta carried out the sale together with his team. After the Local Court of Wilhelmshaven opened the insolvency proceedings, Dr. Kaufmann was appointed insolvency administrator. He had already been overseeing the company as preliminary insolvency administrator since December 2025. Through Westlake Vinnolit’s acquisition of the business operations, all approximately 350 jobs at the site are expected to be retained. The Wilhelmshaven site is one of Europe’s major production facilities for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). With the acquisition, Westlake Vinnolit is expanding its production base in the chlorovinyls business and strengthening its market position in the Performance & Essential Materials segment. According to Westlake, the site’s location on Germany’s North Sea coast, including access to a deep-water port, provides favorable logistical conditions for raw material supply and international trade. Westlake Vinnolit is part of the U.S.-based Westlake Corporation, headquartered in Houston. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and employs around 14,600 people worldwide. In Germany, Westlake Vinnolit operates production sites in Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as its corporate headquarters in Ismaning near Munich. The company employs approximately 1,400 people in Germany. In addition to Pluta, numerous external advisors were involved in implementing the transaction, including the law firms Görg, Norton Rose Fulbright, Alter Vanderstappen, and SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz; the consulting firm Deloitte; restructuring specialists from Wayes; and the Angermann Group. The process was also supported by the financing banks, the government of Lower Saxony, and other regional stakeholders. More information: |
