By automating material flow, the efficiency of raw material supply is intended to be increased. In its standard configuration, the system features two pallet positions and a linear robot. Thanks to its modular design, the station can be adapted to different production requirements and space constraints. A key feature is the automatic position detection of raw material bags on the pallet. The robot identifies their location, enabling it to safely and efficiently handle even partially used pallets. After picking up the bags, they are automatically opened and the granulate is dispensed into a designated container up to the predefined target quantity. The bag emptying station is equipped with the Wittmann R9 control system. This enables uniform operation as well as integration into existing IT infrastructures and material handling systems using additional Wittmann components. After emptying, the bags are collected separately for recycling. As an option, the system can be equipped with an integrated granulator that shreds the empty bags directly on site, allowing the packaging material to be processed immediately. With this new solution, Wittmann extends the automation of material handling to an upstream process step, creating additional potential for reducing manual operations in plastics processing.
